Names · compatibility score
Name compatibility calculator
This is the playground game most people in India grew up with, done properly. Enter two names and you get a compatibility score, a FLAMES reading, and an image you can send to whoever the names belong to.
Nothing is uploaded, and no names are stored.
Entertainment only
This is an entertainment tool. It does not predict anything, and it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional on health, money, relationships or anything else that matters.
How the score is worked out
Two things are combined. First, the classic FLAMES method: letters shared between the two names are cancelled out, the survivors are counted, and that count is used to eliminate around the ring F-L-A-M-E-S until one letter is left. F is friends, L is love, A is affection, M is marriage, E is enemies, S is siblings.
Second, if you supply both dates of birth, the life path numbers are compared and nudge the score up or down a little.
The whole thing is deterministic. The same two names always give exactly the same result, which is the point — a score that changed between visits would be obviously arbitrary.
Why the score never drops below 45
This is a deliberate choice and worth stating plainly. However the letters fall, this tool will not tell anyone that their relationship is worthless.
A game that returned "2 per cent compatible" to a couple who then spent the evening quietly worrying about it would have done real harm in exchange for a laugh. So the score is floored at 45 and capped at 99. Within that range it moves according to the names you enter — but it will not be cruel.
If you want a tool that will be cruel, this is not it, and that is not an oversight.
Longer names, nicknames and spelling
Because the method counts letters, what you type matters. "Rahul" and "Raahul" give different results, and so do a full name and a nickname.
For the most satisfying result, use the names as the two people actually call each other. It is a game about the names, not about the people, and the names are the only input it has.
What this is not
It is not a compatibility test in any real sense. It knows nothing about either person beyond the spelling of a name and, optionally, a birth date. It cannot see how you communicate, what you want, or how you treat each other — the things that actually determine whether a relationship works.
Treat it as a game to send to a group chat. Anyone making a decision about a relationship on the basis of a name-letter count is being badly served, and this page says so rather than pretending otherwise.
Questions people ask
What does FLAMES stand for?
Friends, Love, Affection, Marriage, Enemies and Siblings. Letters common to both names are cancelled, the remainder is counted, and that number eliminates around the ring until one letter is left.
Why is the lowest score 45 rather than zero?
Deliberately. This is a game, and a game has no business telling someone their relationship is worthless. The score moves with the names you enter, but it is floored at 45 and capped at 99.
Do I have to enter dates of birth?
No. Names alone give a complete result. Adding dates compares the two life path numbers and adjusts the score slightly.
Why did I get a different result with a different spelling?
The method counts letters, so the spelling is the input. A nickname and a full name will not give the same score.
Is this the same as kundli matching?
No, and the difference is significant. Kundli or gun milan matching is a detailed Vedic compatibility assessment that uses the Moon's position at birth, among other things. This is a letter game and makes no claim to be anything more.
Are the names I enter saved?
No. They are used in your browser to work out the result and then discarded. Nothing is sent anywhere.
